The Hong Kong Buddhist Psychology and Mental Health Association (the Association) was formed by a group of individuals most of whom have links to the University of Toronto who believe that Buddhism has much to offer to people. It is in essence an outgrowth of the Buddhist Education Foundation for Canada, which is currently funding Buddhist Psychology and Mental Health courses at the University of Toronto. We aim at promoting mental health and world peace through the teachings of the Buddha, which simply means the All-Enlightened One.
The Association was incorporated on 29th October 2012. The first directors include academics, businessmen and professionals and they all have track records of charitable services. We will initially focus on educational work in Hong Kong in respect of Buddhist Psychology and Mental Health. We are open to collaboration with other organizations. It is our wish that over the long run educational work in Buddhist Psychology and Mental Health will spread to all corners of the world.
With effect from 2013/12/28, the Association has been granted the charitable organization status by the Inland Revenue Department of The Hong Kong SAR Government, meaning that any amount donated to the Association is entitled for tax exemption.
